The new NFL season gets underway when the Baltimore Ravens take on the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2024 NFL Kickoff Game on Thursday. The seventh-year veteran registered five tackles for loss, three sacks, one interception, one forced fumble and seven pass breakups. He is entering his third season with the Chiefs after spending his first four years with the Houston Texans. Reid has 480 tackles, including 353 solo, with 18 tackles for loss, six sacks, eight interceptions, three forced fumbles and 37 pass breakups in 90 career games.
Defensive end George Karlaftis will also look to build on a solid season from a year ago. He was the 30th pick in the first round of the 2022 NFL Draft, and has continued to sharpen his skills. He tied with Chris Jones for a team-high 10.5 sacks, making 47 tackles, including 29 solo, with seven tackles for loss, one forced fumble and three pass breakups. Baltimore defensive tackle Justin Madubuike was a playmaker on defense for Baltimore in 2023. The fifth-year veteran had a team-high 13 sacks for 90 yards and registered 33 quarterback hits, most in the NFL by a defensive tackle. Madubuike also had 56 tackles, including 38 solo, with two forced fumbles and 12 tackles for loss. He has played in 59 career games, registering 153 tackles, including 98 solo, 29 tackles for loss, 21.5 sacks and five pass breakups.
Linebacker Roquan Smith led Baltimore in tackles last season, with a team-high 158 tackles, most since Ray Lewis in 2003. In 16 games, he had 84 solo stops and five tackles for loss. The former first round pick of the Chicago Bears in 2018 also had 1.5 sacks, one forced fumble and eight pass breakups. He has been dependable, playing in 94 career games with 850 tackles, including 534 solo, with 59 tackles for loss, 20 sacks, nine interceptions, two forced fumbles and 31 pass breakups.
