Warriors Exploring Trade For Kevin Durant

Warriors Exploring Trade For Kevin Durant

The Golden State Warriors are exploring the possibility of trading for Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns, sources tell Jake Fischer. The Warriors are also internally discussing the possibility of bringing both Durant and LeBron James to the team, though the logistics of that scenario is highly unrealistic.

The Suns have signaled they do not plan to trade Durant before the deadline, but they are believed to at least be listening to pitches. Durant left the Warriors in 2019 to sign with the Brooklyn Nets and then was traded to the Suns in 2023. Phoenix would maintain a high asking price for Durant involving both draft capital and a highly touted young player. The Suns do have a level of interest in Jonathan Kuminga, who will be a restricted free agent this offseason.

The Suns are attempting to acquire Jimmy Butler by sending out Bradley Beal, but a trade involving those particulars has been in the works for weeks without a viable path. The only mechanism available for the Suns to acquire Butler appears to be by trading away Durant or Devin Booker.ย

The Warriors have also pursued their own trade for Butler, as well as Zach LaVine, who was traded to the Sacramento Kings by the Chicago Bulls on Sunday.
