The Week 8 NFL schedule begins with a Thursday Night Football showdown between the Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. It will be the second-ever meeting between 2018 NFL Draft class members Baker Mayfield and Josh Allen, and both are among the biggest names in the NFL DFS player pool. However, they are each complemented by a number of other high-value NFL DFS picks like receivers Mike Evans and Stefon Diggs. They are among the most productive receivers over the last decade, as each ranks in the top five among wideouts in receiving yards since 2014.
Utilizing NFL DFS stacks between quarterback and receiver is a tried-and-true formula when it comes to a daily Fantasy football strategy. Which of those pairings should you pursue for TNF NFL DFS lineups? Now, McClure has turned his attention to Buccaneers vs. Bills on Thursday Night Football and locked in his top daily Fantasy footballΒ picks. You can only see them by heading to SportsLine.
Top NFL DFS picks for Bills vs. Buccaneers
One of McClure’s top NFL DFS picks for Thursday Night Football is Buccaneers running back Rachaad White. The second-year back couldn’t get much going on the ground in his last game with just 34 rushing yards, but he made up for it in the passing game. He had a career-high of 65 receiving yards on six catches. For the season, White is averaging 71.5 scrimmage yards per game with one total touchdown.
He should find wider rushing lanes on Thursday Night Football against a Bills defense which ranks 31st in yards per carry allowed (5.2). That defense is also getting worse as the season goes on as after not giving up any TDs to opposing RBs over their first three games, the Bills have allowed five TDs to running backs over the last four games. White is averaging 17.5 touches per game in 2023, and that high volume coupled with Buffalo’s porous run defense, makes him an easy choice for Thursday’s NFL DFS lineups.
Part of McClure’s optimal NFL DFS strategy also includes rostering Bills running back James Cook. Cook, who was selected in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft out of Georgia, had the potential to be a top-tier running back this season by being in Buffalo’s offense. But there was uncertainty about how often he’d be utilized in a backfield that included Latavius Murray, Damien Harris, and Josh Allen’s ability to run at quarterback. Cook (256 snaps) has played nearly twice as many snaps as Murray (143) through the first seven weeks of the season and emerged as a true RB1 in the Buffalo backfield. Cook has played 55% of the snaps and has 105 touches compared to Murray’s 44.
The second-year running back is coming off his third game with at least 100 total yards in his last six contests after posting 102 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots. He also has at least 70 yards in five of six games. Buffalo was second in the NFL in scoring average last season at 28.4 points per game and averaged 34.8 over the first four contests. Cook is averaging 104.8 total yards in Buffalo’s four wins this season and as the Bills are 7.5-point favorites.Β See the rest of McClure’s NFL DFS player pool right here.
