The 2024 NFL season begins with twice as many interconference matchups (six) than divisional games (three). With games featuring so many unfamiliar opponents, such as Cowboys vs. Browns, Jets vs. 49ers and Bears vs. Titans, there aren’t many recent matchups to reference for Week 1 NFL survivor picks. Add in that you don’t have any in-season data to utilize to assist with your 2024 NFL knockout pool picks and the opening week, more so than any other, may require outside help for your NFL survivor strategy. Before finalizing any Week 1 NFL survivor picks, see which team the red-hot SportsLine Projection Model just went all-in on.
The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up well over $7,000 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception. The model enters Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season on an incredible 181-129 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season. It is also on a 35-21 roll on top-rated NFL picks since Week 7 of 2022.
The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past six years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick’em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.
Now, it has turned its attention to the latest Week 1 NFL odds and locked in its Week 1 survivor pool pick. You can only see who the model is backing this week at SportsLine.
Top Week 1 NFL survivor pool predictions
In Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, the model is shying away from the Miami Dolphins, even though they’re coming off an 11-6 season and are favored over a Jaguars team that went 9-8 and missed the playoffs. While the Dolphins are projected to win in almost 60% of simulations, the model is saving Miami for another week. The Dolphins have lost three of their last four meetings with the in-state rival, and Miami also enters the 2024 NFL season on a three-game losing streak after ending last year on a down note.
Miami has questions on the defensive side of the ball, as five of their six players with the most sacks last season have either departed or are coming off season-ending injuries. Additionally, the team released CB Xavien Howard, who has the most interceptions in the NFL since 2017. Miami seems to be putting a lot on the shoulders of the offense, but the Jags’ defense was solid last year, ranking in the top 10 in run defense, takeaways and third-down defense. With new receiver additions in Gabe Davis and first-round rookie Brian Thomas Jr. to give Trevor Lawrence more help, the Dolphins aren’t a team to pick on with Week 1 NFL survivor picks.
