Chris Paul never thought he’d be playing for the San Antonio Spurs. In some ways, Paul never thought he’d still be playing at all, at this point in his career.
“You never know where your career, your journey, is going to take you,” said Paul. “I would never have imagined I would be here in San Antonio and have my career end with never coming here. I would have still loved Pop and sort of known of Vic; sort of known of Harrison (Barnes) and all these guys, but it’s been unbelievable to make a connection with those guys that will last a lifetime.”
As for his own future, Paul said that conversations with his family will help him to decide on that.
“The more years that go by, it’s more conversations with my family, with my kids, Paul said. “They’ve got a lot of say-so. They got a lot of input.”
The veteran point guard is set to be a free agent after this season. Fellow veteran Spurs teammate Harrison Barnes hopes Paul continues to play in San Antonio.
“I’ve been lobbying him since day one, just lobbying for him to play,” Barnes said. “I hope this isn’t the final season. Obviously, you have his family, and there’s a lot of things to weigh and consider, but I would love nothing more than for CP to come back and continue.”
