Jayson Tatum has undergone surgery to repair a torn right Achilles tendon on Tuesday following his injury in the fourth quarter of the Boston Celtics’ Game 4 loss to the New York Knicks on Monday.
Tatum will be out for the remainder of the 24-25 season and he faces an extended rehab ahead. The Celtics expect Tatum, who recently turned 27, to make a full recovery.
Tatum helped lead the Celtics to the 2024 NBA championship and then signed a five-year, $314 million supermax during the offseason that is the richest contract in NBA history. Tatum also won a gold medal last summer for the United States.
Tatum has played the most regular season and playoff games in the NBA since entering the league in 2017. Tatum will likely be named to First Team All-NBA for the fourth consecutive season.
