Jason Kidd and the New York Knicks have mutual interest as the franchise searches for a new head coach after parting ways with Tom Thibodeau. The Knicks are expected to reach out to the Dallas Mavericks about Kidd.
“The way I would describe this is there’s mutual intrigue on both sides,” said Brian Windhorst on Monday’s Sports Center.
Kidd led the Mavericks to the Finals in 2024 and signed a new contract extension with the franchise during their run.Β It remains to be seen how the Mavericks will handle the Knicks’ interest.
Kidd angled for his exit as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets to join the Milwaukee Bucks in 2014 where he went on to coach a young Giannis Antetokounmpo. Kidd was fired by the Bucks in 2018 and he then became an assistant coach with the Los Angeles Lakers under Frank Vogel. Kidd was hired as head coach of the Mavericks in 2021 to replace Rick Carlisle.Β
