Dorian Finney-Smith Declines .4M Player Option With Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers forward Dorian Finney-Smith is declining his $15.4 million player option for next season. Finney-Smith will now be an unrestricted free agent on July 1.

Finney-Smith is considering a Lakers return, but multiple contenders are also interested in the veteran forward. The roster in Los Angeles is somewhat in flux, as LeBron James opted into his $52.6 million contract for next season. However, quotes from James’ agent Rich Paul made it clear that James is evaluating his future with the Lakers.

Los Angeles acquired Finney-Smith at least season’s trade deadline. In 43 games (20 starts) with the Lakers, Finney-Smith averaged 7.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. The veteran forward shot 44% from the field, including 39.8% on 4.8 three-point attempts per game.
