Luka Doncic has actively participated in recruiting Marcus Smart and Deandre Ayton to the Los Angeles Lakers, sources told Dan Woike of The Athletic.
Smart agreed to a two-year deal over the weekend, with Ayton signing a two-year contract earlier this month.
The Lakers also signed Jake LaRavia to a two-year deal last month.
Doncic communicated his desire for a rim-running center, outside shooting, and defensive help to Rob Pelinka.
The Lakers previously tried to pair Doncic with Mark Williams at the trade deadline before backtracking on the deal due to Williams’ failed physical.
