Jonas Valanciunas confirmed that he will suit up for the Denver Nuggets next season, ending speculation of a move to Panathinaikos.
“I want to clear the air about my playing situation next season now that Denver has made their decision to keep me. The idea of playing for Panathinaikos, closer to home, was very exciting to me, but that will have to wait.
“I am fully committed to honoring my contract with the Nuggets this season and will give it my all to compete for a championship,” Valanciunas said to BasketNews.
The 33-year-old was traded from the Kings to the Nuggets earlier this summer.
Reports then emerged that Panathinaikos were attempting to the sign the center, who has one fully guaranteed year remaining on his NBA contract worth about $10 million.
Valanciunas averaged 10.4 points and 7.7 rebounds for the Wizards and Kings last season.
Including Valanciunas, the Nuggets added Cam Johnson, Bruce Brown, and Tim Hardaway Jr. this offseason.
