The Phoenix Suns are reportedly close to finding a trade for Kevin Durant. Suns insider John Gambadoro of Arizona Sports 98.7 reported on Sunday morning that Phoenix is “very close” to a trade for Durant.
Gambadoro also said that Phoenix is still working with multiple teams to get a deal done. A possible timeline for a trade is later in the day on Sunday or possibly Monday.
The Suns have been motivated to trade Durant ahead of the start of the 2025 NBA Draft on Wednesday. Phoenix is hoping to return at least one pick in this year’s draft. That’s whether the Suns use that pick themselves, or they trade it in a subsequent deal for win-now players.
Phoenix has engaged in talks with the Houston Rockets, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Minnesota Timberwolves, LA Clippers and Toronto Raptors. The Rockets, Spurs or Heat are known to be Durant’s preferred teams, but the Suns have made it clear that they’ll take the best deal for themselves.
