The Los Angeles Lakers’ biggest priority this offseason is upgrading the center position. The Lakers could pursue a trade for a center as they did ahead of the trade deadline with the Charlotte Hornets for Mark Williams, or they could explore free agent options.
“There’s names like Brook Lopez, Clint Capela, Al Horford out there in free agency,” said Shams Charania on Get Up. “Will it be that route or the trade route? That’s what everyone in L.A. and everyone around the league is waiting on.”
Lopez and Horford could both leave their incumbent teams they have won titles with this offseason as both the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics face salary cap and luxury tax issues.
Capela was always considered likely to leave the Atlanta Hawks this offseason and that became even more solidified following their trade for Kristaps Porzingis and their selection of Asa Newell.
